garlic in the snow
The garlic is up in spite of the odds! April 4th brought what I hope is our last snow. The garden fence was felled by one of this winter's ice storms and I didn't notice it until the deer had eaten the tops off of all the new garlic. Now that it's back up they seem to be doing fine and in spite of some freeze damage at the tips, they're thriving. Thanks to our neighbor Charlie for donating the bulbs and of course Kara for having the foresight to plant them last fall. Lawrence has started some seedlings and I've been sniffing around for some manure as our neighbors supply of aged Beefalo poo has finally dried up. Last frost date here is May 15 and the sensitive crops like tomatoes shouldn't go in til June 1.

wow! cool. it's so funny cause i was so worried that i had forgotten which bed i put them in, and that somehow they would get dug up to plant lettuce or rocca or something... i sort of forgot that they would actually grow! and make themselves known. GARLIC yay!!!!
